What is the Young BPW Board?
The Young BPW
Board was established in mid 2006 and is made up of 10 Young
BPW members from all around Australia. The Board has nine
portfolios in total, each of which will be represented by
a Board member. You can meet the Board members by clicking here.
The main task
of the Board will be to develop and administer the National
Young BPW Program in consultation with its young members.
The Board will also provide tangible support for Young BPW
members and programs at a club and state level.
Another focus
of the Board will be to encourage young women to take on more
leadership roles on boards or otherwise in their respective
careers. Currently women make up only 7% of board positions
in Australian publicly listed companies.
Within our organisation,
the Young BPW Board will offer young women the opportunity
to develop directorship skills and build their confidence
to take on such roles, in a mentored and nurtured environment.
The Young BPW
Board will draw on the guidance of its appointed Board Mentor,
Past BPW International President Dr Pat Harrison (pictured),
as well as the broad range of experience that BPW Australia
members can offer. As the Board aims to be a representative
body for Young BPW, we will regularly seek feedback from BPW
and Young BPW members.
