THE VOICE OF WOMEN IN THE WORKFORCE:

ABORTION IS A WOMANÕS CHOICEÉ..NOT A POLITICIANÕS

BPW International - the International Federation of Business and Professional Women - today voiced concern over recent suggestions of changes to government policy on termination services for women.

ÒOur organisation is pro-choice and believes that the decision to have a termination is a womanÕs personal decision.

We believe that all women, regardless of age and income, should have access to un-biased information, emotional support and the highest medical care when seeking a termination.

It is of great concern that politicians are interfering with a womanÕs reproductive right. Decisions to terminate pregnancies should only be made by a woman and her doctor.

On behalf of all women in the paid and unpaid workforce, BPW International is not prepared to see the rights and health of Australian women go backwards.

The Commonwealth Government should spend more time on improving sex education for teens, increasing access to clinical and health promotion services, and addressing the issue of contraceptive failure.Ó

BPW InternationalÕs vision is to achieve a just and equal status for women in all levels and areas of society. Promoted as Ôthe organization for women in the workforceÕ, BPW aim is to develop a comprehensive framework of structures to provide the necessary education, training and opportunities for women to achieve economic independence and assume their rightful place in work, the professions and in all decision-making processes.
