BPW Geelong

About our Club

Business and Professional Women Geelong applies a professional and contemporary approach to delivering key professional and personal development opportunities for local women.

At BPW Geelong, our aim is to empower and enhance the inherent strength of women by giving them the opportunity to build networks and develop key business and professional skills. Our events showcase powerful and inspirational speakers who deliver on a wide range of topics designed to build our members knowledge and power base.

BPW Geelong was established in 1985 by our founding member, Micky Hayward, with the assistance of BPW Doutta Galla.

Our vision is to empower the women of the Geelong region in all aspects of their life, including family, work, personal interests and wider communities.

We offer our members and friends a great way to socialise and network at our monthly dinners and lunches. So if you are new to the region or just looking to expand your personal or professional connections we welcome you to join us at our next dinner or lunch event to enjoy the company of a friendly and dynamic group of professional women.

From the Club President - Cal Stewart

It is an honour to have been elected as President of BPW Geelong for 2017; to have this opportunity to lead a club with a strong history - recently celebrating 30 years.

Those Presidents and Board members who have come before me, have built a strong foundation for us to continue to grow our great club upon.

Having been a member for the past seven years, and serving the past four on the Board, as Vice President and Director of Policy & Projects, our club has presented me personally with many opportunities to grow and develop, along with forming so many new friendships.

For me the 'why' I am involved is the opportunities it provides for me to give back and make a difference for women, in our own community and through our involvement at National and International levels.

Our Student Mentoring Program is one that is unique to our Club, but widely recognised through the broader BPW community and is something all of our members should be very proud of.

BPW Geelong prides itself on delivering quality events for our members and guests, and it is my goal to continue to work with my fellow Board to provide events that engage, inspire and help us all to be the best possible version of ourselves; to create an environment where we can feel safe and supported as we learn and develop and to play our part in championing the rights of women throughout the world.

I look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

Cal Stewart

Our Special Projects

Student Mentoring Program
BPW Geelong run a successful mentoring program for year 11 and 12 students from North Geelong Secondary College.
Selected students are given the opportunity to met with members and professional development consultants on a regular basis.
Students attend monthly dinner events and are highly encouraged to take on additional duties such as organising the name tag table and introducing guest speakers.
Upon graduation, students are treated to having their make-up done by Flawless Beauty Concept and having professional photographs taken by Pam Hutchinson Photography.

Our Past Events

The highlight of our calendar is the annual "Moving on Up Breakfast". At our May 2015 breakfast held at The Pier, Geelong, over 200 ladies enjoyed listening to Kirstie Clements, ex-editor in chief VOGUE Australia share her story. The event enabled us to support local organisation, Geelong Mums with the launch of the "Jump in Puddles" campaign, ensuring every child is warm this winter.

At our August 2014 event held at the Geelong racing Club, we were delighted with a visit by our Egyptian BPW friends. It was a privilege to meet and enjoy a fun evening with BPW International Immediate Past President, Freda Miriklis, Judith van Unen from JERA International, BPW Victorian Rep, Jacqueline Graham and the very energetic BPW International Vice President, Amany Asfour and her delegation from Egypt.

Our other recent speakers have included:
Leanne Tonkes, Film Producer
Caroline Viney, CEO Gracon Industries
Nicky Buckly, Model & Author
Andrew Griffiths, Business Author (Victorian Small Business Festival)
Carrie Felton, Owner - Stuck on You
Rachael Jayne Groover, Motivational Speaker from USA
Danielle Chiel, fashion Designer
