Coffs Harbour is located about
halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and currently has
a population of 70,000. The city is central to the Coffs
Coast which is a region of green, pristine rainforests;
relaxed, friendly towns; a rich history and heritage;
a superb string of golden beaches washed by surf; and
a spectacular underwater landscape beneath blue Pacific
Ocean waters. Its friendly, welcoming population and scenic
virtues make it a popular place to holiday, many is
the tourist who doesn't feel like going home! Coffs Harbour
is a vibrant city with plenty to offer, especially if
ample sunshine and carefree living are your thing.
BPW Coffs Harbour was established in 1970 by founding
President, Mrs E Stead. The club has always had a strong
focus on education, and annually provides an Award to a local, mature aged student to support the expenses of study. This award has been named after an inspirational past member and teacher, Maude Spielvogel. Over the past few years, BPW Coffs Harbour has also sponsored females in La Paz, Mexico to train as nurses.
In recent years the Club has run a Financial Security Seminar as well as a Health and Well-Being Seminar. Members have participated in the Girl Savvy and Girl Smart programs which promote mentoring to teenage girls to encourage them to explore and pursue their dreams. The Coffs club is also fortunate to be the home club of the immediate past National President of BPW Australia, Ms Kay Morrison.
BPW Coffs Harbour welcomes all new members who have an
interest in pursuing issues affecting women in our community,
and who are interested in trying to make a difference.
Our monthly meetings provide a stimulating and informative
environment, as well as
a forum for networking and socialising. We regularly have guest speakers at our meetings to support the education of our members. |
